They probably just had to adapt some things in the downgrade utility to make it compatible (ie, code offsets and such). It just means that the exploit was completely unknown when the OS was built so chances that TI fixed it in there are small. Maybe TI-Planet just found a new exploit that TI just can't figure out? Also being able to downgrade this easily means that the team doesn't need to invest as much time into Ndless 3.9 or 3.9.1, as people can simply downgrade to 3.1 or 3.6 if they want to use it. But yeah, basically if you were stuck on OS 3.9.1 (which isn't even available on TI servers yet, but is starting to appear on new calcs), then you can now go back to 3.6 and use Ndless! Need to downgrade my TI-Nspire CX II from 6.0.3.374 to 5.3.0.564. However, no CAS nor Clickpad/Touchpad support yet: Just regular TI-Nspire CX. Need to downgrade my TI-Nspire CX II from 6.0.3.374 to 5.3.0. I suspect there wasn't much changes in the OS or TI didn't try much harder to find a new way to block downgrades.
